Our base, The Nest, is part of the Daimler Powerhouse and backs on to Coventry Canal and Electric Wharf. It has step-free access, accessible gender-neutral toilets and a lift to the first floor studios. If you have any questions about getting to, or accessing, the building – and the information on this page is not clear enough, please do get in touch.

From Sandy Lane

The Nest is accessed through these blue gates, and is at the far end of the industrial estate.
[Approach from the Electric Wharf/Sandy Lane/Widdrington Road/Elly’s Road junction – next to Radford Post Office].
Nest & Powerhouse

This blue building with three points on the roof is The Nest.
It is attached to the Daimler Powerhouse, which once housed the electricity generator for the Daimler Car Factory and is now home to Coventry arts organisations Imagineer, Highly Sprung, Open Theatre, Media Mania and Pangaea Sculptors Centre.
How to get here on foot or by bike
As part of our commitment to environmentally responsible travel, we advocate low carbon, active travel – so please travel to The Nest on foot or by bike if you can. If travelling without your car would be a barrier to accessing the building, or you have large items to deliver, please contact us in advance to reserve an accessible parking space.
The Nest is a 20 minute walk from Coventry city centre – or a 10 minute cycle (a docking station for the West Midlands Cycle Hire (Beryl app) network is 100m away from our front door, by the blue gates on Sandy Lane). These videos show the routes for pedestrian access from the canal towpath (via Electric Wharf) or from Sandy Lane, which is also well connected to the local bus network. There is ample bike parking on site.
How to get here by bus

The 15 bus from Coventry City Centre to Whitmore Park stops at Ellys Road [opposite the gates to Sandy Lane Business Park]. You can get info on bus times on moovit and via this QR code.
The 9 or the 87 buses will take you from the train station bus interchange to the Well Street stop on Corporation Street: from there you can walk up Bishop Street, over the bridge over the ring road, and through the canal basin/along the canal (c 15 mins), OR get the number 15 bus from The Burges.
A note on Googlemaps
Please note that googlemaps sometimes will send you (unnecessarily) from Sandy Lane into Electric Wharf before you get into the business park, and do be aware that the last part of the route (through the Sandy Lane Business Park itself) is shared with vehicles, and our neighbours tend to have a lot of deliveries through the day, so please take care.

When you get here…
How were our directions?
How did we do? Did you find us ok? We know that The Nest is a bit tricky to find, and we’re working on better ways of helping people get here – we’d really value your feedback…
